Toxoplasma gondii is a parasitic worm that lives mainly within the cells of animals. Toxoplasma gondii also has a name that is unfamiliar to people, which is trichostrongylus. Once Toxoplasma gondii enters the body, it travels around with the blood and poses a great threat to health.

Clinical signs: Most infections are asymptomatic and insidious. Infection is more common and severe in puppies and young dogs, and fatal cases have been reported in adult dogs. Symptoms are similar to canine distemper and canine infectious hepatitis, mainly manifested as fever, cough, anorexia, depression, weakness, eye and nose discharge, pale mucous membranes, respiratory difficulties, and even violent hemorrhagic diarrhea. A few sick dogs have violent vomiting, followed by paralysis and other neurological signs. Pregnant bitches miscarry or give birth prematurely, and the resulting litters often show symptoms such as loose stools, respiratory distress and dyskinesia. Blood tests; in the acute stage, red and white blood cells are reduced and neutrophils are increased. Neutropenia and mononucleosis are less common. Chronic cases have increased total leukocyte count, mainly neutrophilic leukocytosis and thrombocytopenia, but no bleeding tendency.
